15 Things I will Try to Explore Happiness in Life – My Story

Happiness and sadness can run parallel like train tracks in life. I only want to focus on the blessings in life!

After Marriage things have changed… Few are great and few odds. I’ve become so stubborn & sometimes difficult to handle. Small fights just take a hold on my mind and I won’t think anything whole day to make them even more worse. Do I really wish my life to get worse? Why can’t I choose a different way to see my life in better position. Why can’t I bring smile back to the people I fought with? Why can’t I let the small fights fly lightly like a feather and forget in minutes. Yes, I really need to change the way I look into this world and enhance my life & relations for the good and for the future! February 2014 will be the month of past and March will be showing up soon. This (March) whole month will be implemented as a Happiness Happens Month, so here are fifteen things, I’ll be performing randomly each day to promote my happiness and to increase happiness in my marriage and relations.

Be in the minute. Since happiness is in my determination, let’s decide to stay happy each moment and enjoy what that moment is offering to me. Past is gone and can not be changed, rather than regretting, I’ll try to get a better future because the future and all it’s worries has not happened yet. Be present at very moment and purpose in my heart to be happy in the very now.

Take my Bruzzo (Pet) for a walk. He is here for me! He came for me. I am suppose to be responsible for his everything including his health, food, playing, walk, toys etc. He is here when I need a friend & when I need someone to laugh with or to play with. It really reliefs the mental stress when he jumps on me at the funniest moments; lick my face or purr; bring joy and companionship. Makes me to feel to be loved, love for life and everyone around me 🙂

LOL – Laugh out loud. Either I’ll Turn on the TV and Watch the comedy show or have fun with Family or pull out the old funny pics of mine with old friends to laugh out loud and roll on the floor. Laughter is good for the soul.

Scent the air. (Necessity for me 😉 coz of Bruzzo Potty habits) Citrus scents like Orange or Lemon add an instant burst of joy, and deeper scents like Rose and Sandalwood help relieve stress and bring peace. So try to indulge in them.

Go to sleep. We’re living in a nation of overworked, sleep-deprived people, so to increase my happiness, take a daily nap. BTW sleeping is my all time favorite hobby!

Ignore my website’s daily views. As I go through the day, I am constantly checking my website views, seems like I am frittering away valuable time and setting myself up for anxiety. I’ve decided As I go through my daily journey, I’ll let go of that worries — increase my productivity and reduce the stress of worrying about “the crash.” After all, number of hits and bounce rate of site does not equal happiness!

Hum along. Music soothes and calms mind more than the savage beast! Music really affects my mood and express my emotions, so to choose happiness, I’ll listen the music with an up tempo and a pleasant beat. Music that feeds my soul make me more confident or music that has a happy memory associated with it, like “Be My hero” “Shine like a diamond” “Who says” “Beautiful”.

Visit a quiet place. Libraries, museums, gardens, and places of worship are all places that can calm, soothe, de-stress and bring back the happiness to your fast-paced, crazy life. Relax with a favorite book, feel the rain drops, stop to smell the roses, or reconnect with your spiritual side.

Declutter. It’s truly impossible to meditate, breathe deeply, or simply relax when every surface is covered. My bed specially cluttered with the stuff like, laptop, phone, pillows, my bag, hair clips and few unusual things which are not necessary on be on bed all the time like perfume bottle and watch. I’m sure decluttering will allow me freedom, movement and new energy to flow through my room. Decluttering is a healing, renewing, energizing activity. It promotes a sense of achievement and accomplishment!

Volunteer. Helping others will enable me to put my own problems into perspective. When I just sit all day alone or on laptop and only think of myself, it gets easy for me to focus on the negatives, but when I give to a charity and give some time to others, I remember that there are those less fortunate than me and I start feeling a sense of self-satisfaction for helping others.

Will start to say No. Skip those activities that aren’t necessary for me and my life, that I don’t enjoy. Many times I don’t want to spend my 3 hours in theater watching a movie. As I can watch the same movie at home on TV/laptop while doing my work along with it. It seems like, I wasted my time and money and didn’t finish the other work I was suppose to. So I’ll start to say no and give myself some free time in my schedule. Free time promotes personal happiness!

Make a list. I used to count myself in people of sharp minded but I forget the things I’ve achieved and the dreams I wish to be fulfilled. To put the things on easy track I’ve bought a white board with Blue & Red Color Marker to recognize the important things written in red and least priority things in Blue as there is nothing like writing down the tasks to release the stress of trying to remember everything including  my budgets to different phone numbers. Lists will help me realize how much I really do accomplish. When my sense of accomplishment skyrockets as I see just how much I do! GO ME!

Walk mindfully. I don’t even remember when was the last time I went for walk and had a laugh with children in the park, the breeze whispering through the pines, or the smell of the flower garden as I walked past it. Rather than drifting off into my private thoughts or listening to the iPod as I walk, I should start living my life combining with nature and start noticing where am I, what I feel against my skin, what I smell, and the sounds I hear–finding joy in the moment of the walk.

Gardening. There is  great feeling about tilling the soil, planting a seed, tending a seedling, watching it grow, and enjoying the benefits of the plant–whether that be a fresh fruit or vegetable, or a fully blooming flower. Soak in the rays of happiness!

Tune out the News. Every time I am shuffling out the TV channels to watch something great, I stop pressing the remote button to listen about the news of buring fire somewhere, eve teasers, politics. Why?? I think, all the “bad news” is enough to drive even the most optimistic person to depression, so I will instead choose to walk away one day and let the world turn without me. When I feel like the “bad news” is dragging me down, I’ll choose happiness–Unplug it, change the news channel and don’t pick up that newspaper to dive in negative world! Finally, Count your blessings!
