Why Sunscreen Is Your Best Friend? Even In The Monsoon!

Hi Girls,

In our teen days, we usually get misunderstood by some terms or by the rumour our college queens are spreading. It actually happens with most of us and in our teenage we only  focus on external stuff like juicy makeup or sexy dresses clothes and bags. Let me just share my personal experience and myths I had about sunscreen:-

Since my childhood to six months back, I was pretty much unaware about Sunscreen and sure that My skin is perfect & don’t need sunscreen at all. I already have fairer skin, it can’t make me dark. And one more big reason was my oily skin. “Sunscreens are too sticky” that was the big bad perception I had in my mind. Few months back, multiple spots and pimples made me to pay visits to the dermatologist. From that day, the sunscreen myths are busted and it changed my thoughts on it and made me to accept that It is important to apply sunscreen lotion as part of your daily routine as this will help your skin from all the harmful rays of the sun.

Myth #1: You don’t need sunscreen if it’s cloudy or monsoon outside.

Fact: Applying sun cream is important even in monsoon, trust us even you are in the kitchen or in your toilet. A study says UV rays can penetrate through these types of environments.  40% of the sun’s UV rays can actually pass through clouds, This explanation is enough to understand why people often have serious sunburns on overcast days if they spent a enough amount of time outside with no sunscreen.

Myth #2: Sunscreen sprays are handy & keep you protected.

Fact: Yes, we girls need almost everything handy and compact but some dermatologists think that the sunscreen particles that land on your skin after spraying don’t fully protect the area we try to cover. A great deal is to slather on a traditional tube sunscreen or lotion before going outside. But if spray is your last option, rub in the sunscreen so you have the best shot at making sure you’re fully protected.

Myth #3: Darker skin don’t need sunscreens.

Fact: Eventhough darker skin people or you can call, people with more pigmentation in their skin tend to have a lower skin cancer risk but that doesn’t mean they are habitual of taking sun rays. it. A study found dark-skinned people are more likely than whites to die from skin cancer and even if you have a dark complexion, you could have genes that make you more susceptible to skin cancer. So start wearing sun protections even if you are darker than others.

Myth #4: Sunscreen chemicals are more dangerous than sun rays.

Fact: We should always take care of ingredients while being on the lookout for great sunscreens: Avoid avobenzone and oxybenzone. Avobenzone is not stable and tends to break down once formulated and Oxybenzone products are absorbed through the skin but its chemical has been demonstrated to be a hormone disruptor. So Stay away from these chemicals!

Myth #5: Applying sunscreen on to your face, arms, and legs is enough.

Fact: When it comes to sun protection, its a serious concern and we need to pay close attention to every part of our body. Melanoma can form in areas where the sun doesn’t shine directly. Except the direct sun areas, emphasis behind the ears, on the back of the neck, and scalp. These areas can be extremely vulnerable to the sun’s UV rays because we tend to forget about them.

Myth No #6: All sun damage occurs before teenage

Fact: Skin damage does happen during childhood But it clearly doesn’t mention anywhere that teenage years are long gone which means you’re immune to the sun’s harmful rays. In fact, 80 percent of a person’s lifetime sun exposure is not acquired before teenage; That means you can get sun burn damaged skin well into your 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. So protect your skin by reapplying the sunscreen at regular intervals throughout the day.

Hey Paridhi Thanks for visiting the site and reading the article.. While choosing the sunscreen we should take care that we are also going to use that on face..if you have oily skin then it really becomes a big problem to find a matte and non-comedogenic product…

I have too much oily & acne prone skin so I am currently using Lotus 3 in 1 matte block with spf 40 on my body and facial skin.

And if I feel dark spots or anything on my skin coz of extra sun expore then I start using Kojivit gel for 15-20 days before bed… this cream contains vitamin E and some mulberry fruit extract which is recommended by the dermatologist. 🙂
