Updated: Retino AC Gel/Tretinoin- An Acne Treatment Medicated Gel

Hi Everyone,

Being a blogger, some girls might not be showcasing their real life skin experiences but here I am opening up what I have been through since my teenage. I have been suffering from mild acne and have passed through several best acne treatments and have used multiple acne medicines or gels.

Whatever their results were, there was certain stuff I found very useful and helped me to maintain clear and acne free skin till some extent. I am aware that it’s not a wise thing to share the acne treatment prescription as it’s none of my business. But I am truly obsessed with medicated face wash and Retino AC gel which not only helps me to clear up the clogged skin pores but save me from acne marks.

Old Version: Even though I am not aware of the ingredients it contains but my dermatologist has suggested me to use it on regular basis to keep my skin away from acne and marks. Check out my full review here:-

Updated Version on 28 July 2021: Well Now I know, it has vitamin A derived Tretinoin and Clindamycin and my doctor in Canada again prescribed me the same drug but a different brand a year back which I have been using on and off since Last June-July. But after using that for about an year. I believed it was a time to update my skin care since I am in my 30s now. So I requested my doctor to me a some a little strong version of Tretinoin. Earlier, in my teenage, I wasted to keep my acne at bay but now I am solely using Tretinoin for maintenance purpose only.

Tretinoin is a medication used to treat acne and sun-damaged skin. It can’t erase deep wrinkles, but it can help improve the appearance of surface wrinkles, fine lines, and darks spots. Tretinoin is also known as retinoic acid. It’s the generic name for synthetic vitamin A. It’s sold under many different brand names. Biacna 0.025% is the one I was prescribed by my doctor here in Canada.

My take on the Retino AC gel

There are certain gels and creams contains benzoyl peroxide available in the market which works as a drying agent for acne. Even I was recommended the similar kind of gel (Persol) but it was way too much harsh for my skin that I was always roaming with my red monkey face. Incase I want to go out somewhere, I would stop using that cream more than a week. And every time I applied, it would just burn my whole face. So I was prescribed to this Retino AC gel.

My skin is way too much oily and clogged the pores easily, in order to maintain the oil balance from outside, I keep this Retino AC GEL handy. It not only save me from getting the new pimples but incase I have one, it will just fade him away very soon. While it contain alcohol, this cream kills the bacteria and keep the skin dry.

It is transparent very liquidy than regular gels, once you take a small amount of it and start to rub on your face, it will be invisible/evaporated like it was never on your face, may be the amount of alcohol it contains.

BUT there are few downsides of this cream, which doesn’t freak to me very much as I’ve learned to trick it. e.g it literally smells like you are drinking alcohol. Secondly, it makes the skin dry that your skin will start shredding like a dry surface. Well, don’t worry it is doing its job to keep your skin free from acne marks. But the bad part is, its embarrassing to go out with the shredding skin on your face especially you can’t wear any make-up on it.

So your options are: Either you stop using it when you feel you are planning a meeting or will be more interacting with people in upcoming days or Just use some good moisturizer few minutes earlier before you leave the house. moisturizer will make them invisible that dried out skin and torn out rough skin. And as mentioned in previous article, don’t forget use a good sunscreen.
