What to do when bored

Hi All,

As I have been a lil away from Girlxplorer and not posting frequently. Reason is: I have shifted to a new place, new city and still in process of packing, shopping & settled down. It has always been a big concern for me to stay away from the things & stuff which are close to my heart e.g my makeup stuff, laptop etc. Although I understand it’s gonna take some time to settle down but sometimes I’m so concerned with finding a way to fill every single minute of every day through check my emails or facebook, interacting with people or chit-chat on what’s app. Not just me but some of you might have felt the same way that we forget to take a step back from our accustomed life. We’re usually lost and we set our minds on an automatic mode to only like & want to do the stuff we usually do it on daily basis.

We have literally forgot to give ourselves some quality “me” time. I can tell you, spending time alone is a great way to recharge your mental batteries and energies — Don’t worry but take that time to enjoy the moments and embark on a mission to treat yourself to these 10 dates with yourself.

  • Watch an Antic or Embarrassingly Bad Movie

Yes, its your time now! Feel no shame as you cry or die laughing alone on your couch. Who cares? No one is there to see you or to laugh on you!

  • Explore the City

When you roam or shop with other people, you are most likely to end up making compromises on what shops to look for or which lane to move towards, where to eat and what to buy.  It’s a “Me Explore” Time now! Explore alone — even if it’s just the next building over — It gives you a momentum of going at your own pace, by your own wish so that you’re able to indulge in everything about the place you want to hunt.

  • Pamper Yourself

Go out or stay at home, It’s probably best time to pamper yourself and give your soul a royal treatment. Get a spa or a massage, It’s a best time for you to take on the steam room solo.

  • Search Crossword and Get Lost

Think this time as a treasure; you’ve saved to spend exploring your favourite genre of book known to the world. Snag one book off the shelf and slump into a comfy chair. Read as much as you can, till the store closes down for the day and that too free of cost. 😉

  • Give Your Soul a Free Concert Feast

Run a quick search through your smart phone and find an exhibition or a live concert in your area, or seek out something new with a sound you like. Who knows — there may be the next big thing, you will want to be in touch forever. When you go to a concert or exhibition alone, you are most likely to spend more time giving thoughts to something specific and  listening to the music and less time worrying about others or feeling alone.

  • Sing Your Heart Out

Don’t hold yourself! Pick a spot you never go to or prepare your room for this Karaoke moment and sing your heart out to a bunch of strangers or to yourself and feel feather-light. If you can do this, we bet you, you can do pretty much anything.

  • Bench Spotting – People Watch

If you are staying in an apartment, you might have a common garden, a small kids park, a walking track. Pick any of these spot and get a best bench you find there in the middle of other people talking or walking and enjoy the show. People watching is always interesting, it’s great to see the different body languages around you, often hilarious, sometimes sweet. It can even make you to give second thoughts to something you notice. 🙂

  • Challenge Yourself

It usually happens to me that I don’t continue to follow my hobbies on daily basis. Those hobbies are usually lost or permanently gone in the middle of daily chores and other priorities. I don’t even think of them, they don’t exist to me on normal days. But when I am alone, I like to follow my hobbies and the things I love to do. I usually take out my painting bag, which is flocked by dust and somewhere hidden in a store-room shelf. I start and challenge myself to give my drawing & painting a best shot again and finish it like a professional.

  • Refresh Yourself to a New Workout

Daily squats, jumps can lead you to boredom. Try and explore the new workouts like Zumba, Booty Barre, anything dance-related. Learning these new forms of exercise can be a bit embarrassing with other people. Master one of these fitness skills alone so next time when you’re in the class or doing it with your partner. You are more comfortable as you already know, what you’re doing is sort of perfect.

  • Go Shopping

This one is mentioned at last but a great savior for me and for most of the girls! Sometimes when we’re on a shopping mission, having besties or partner can slow down that mission or make us feel rushed. It’s usually irritating for me at-least that when I am trying find something that would be best suited on me or in the middle of bargaining 😉 or finding the perfect pair of shoes, while the other person you’re with is tapping their foot by the door and continuously noticing every single tick-tock of watch.

Well, Reading Book is also a good idea to killing time alone as well as gain something from it 🙂

I too like to read books sometimes but not frequently,, and the bad thing is: My shifting is still in process as it was not fully planned. I just took only necessary stuff with me and couldn’t carry a single book to read. ;(

Well I wish you luck to settle down at new place and my shifting is lil strange! We are planning to change this house as we’re not comfortable here with some stuff especially my pup 🙂 He just pooooo anywhere 😉
