What Mom Never Told You About Skin Types!

There are certain things about skin, we are not aware about and even our mom never told us; which can affect our skin e.g season change, ageing and your dieting and food habits. But don’t worry, if your mom never explained the exact but always tried to make you believe in century old thoughts about skin. Anyways ditch those old ideas and we’re here to tell you the broader classification of it: Your skin type and things to avoid.

Basically skin type can be recognised by the these five sections of your face: forehead, both cheeks, nose and chin.

Know your skin type

Let’s decode the different skin type and find out where you all fit in!

OILY Skin: Get up in the morning and have a look at your face in the mirror, if you see a greaselike appearance in all five sections, you definitely have an oily skin. The pores would obviously visible. These pores on your face are actually the openings of pilo-sebaceous follicles which self-cleanse.

What to Avoid: heavy creams with lanolin, you should opt for water-based moisturisers to stay nourished all day.

COMBINATION Skin: If you notice greasiness only on the forehead, nose and mid-chin (T-zone), these signs shows that you have a combination skin.

What to Avoid: Avoid using creams with heavy formulas and try to stick with similar ones as that of oily skin.

DRY Skin: If you don’t see any greasiness on your face through all seasons, but your skin feels tight and stretched even in warm seasons. Which gives you the indication of having a dry skin. Though the pores might be visible and the skin will look dull & sleepy.

What to Avoid: Avoid any harsh cleansers or cleansers with drying agents salicylic acid, tea-tree oil etc. Keep hydrating moisturizers handy with you all the time.

SENSITIVE Skin: A sensitive skin is very reactive to cleansers and creams. One might face the regular burning sensation or the skin reddens at the contact of products.

What to Avoid: Try avoiding products with propylene glycol, or other sensitisers. Use mild, less allergenic products.

Nice, informative post. I have dry skin and I usually steer clear of anything with harsh ingredients as you mentioned.
