Hair Shedding Causes & Facts

Hello Girls,

Girls.. ( please don’t be shy to accept..) but are you facing the problem of hair shedding? Well, don’t worry..its a very quotidian issue faced by many women!!

Recalling my childhood days.. my mom uses to get my hair short always. She would tempt me into these cuts by giving them cute and fancy names such as “Bob-cut” “Princess-Cut” or “Kajol-Cut” in Kuch kuch hota hain. And, I use to literally fall for it. But the moment, I entered my 20s ( and started using my own brains..lol ) I wanted long and shiny hair ( Like Rapunzel..wow) But slowly I perceived, that it wasn’t that easy and started facing many troubles like Hair Shedding!!

Hair Shedding Causes & Facts

  1. TOO MUCH STRESS

This is one of the main reason which causes hair to shed. To handle and deal with stress is apparently in one’s own hand. Profusion stress can also land you up in a condition of TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM. This state will make your hair to shed at a quicker rate than what would be considered normal. (Relax.. don’t take stress.. in fact, try your best to reduce anxiety!)

  1. WRONG PRODUCTS

When a protective hairstyle is done perfect, it makes you feel like a Billion Bucks! However, sometimes it might happen that you make a big blunder in selecting the appropriate product as per your hair demands (Like.. I went freaking crazy, that what if I got bald..when using the wrong product resulted in excess of hair shedding!!) Every product is not magical that it will suit all hair texture. One should see the ingredients and they should use them accordingly as per the hair type.

Also, high use of CHEMICAL PRODUCTS can lead to damage of follicles.

i.e Dry shampoo might suit to any texture hair but might bring adverse results on already chemically treated hair.

  1. HEREDITARY

Hair shedding can also be genetic or it can be due to your ménages’ history with hair. Women with this trait generally develop thinning at the hairline. This is much noticeable during your early 20s. Also, in some cases, the entire scalp might be affected.

(Don’t worry girls… it can be easily found out, whether you are suffering from it or not) A biopsy of scalp and series of tests are done.

  1. IRREGULAR DIETS

Our body needs all the major supplements for healthy and strong hair. Lack of vitamins and proteins might create other health issues. I still remember, one of my friends just to get a zero figure like “Bebo”.. she literally starved. And later, she faced so many health issues. Reducing weight by doing dieting makes no sense. Get an appointment..speak to your doctor.. get a balanced diet and your vitamin intake on track!

Don’t forget girls.. “You are what you eat!”

  1. NOT ENOUGH TRIMS

Getting your hair trimmed regularly is a must (Girls.. even though if you are very busy.. get an appointment and rush to your hair dresser.. it is recommendable to get the edges trimmed after every 3 months)

As it is always said.. “Excess of anything or everything is dangerous”. Excess of trimming might lead to lack of hair growth. Inadequate trimming will lead to irksome and dry split ends results in hair shedding and breakage. So get rid of those pesky split ends.

  1. HAIRSTYLES

Well, I agree, nowadays watching hair styling tutorials are very much in. Experimenting with different hairstyles every now and then is also not good. Tying a tight braid, pony or messy bun might also lead to hair breakage. Don’t play much with them.

Take good care of your hair follicles.

Cater your Follicles!!

  1. TOO MUCH HEAT

Nowadays, experimenting and styling with your hair are in vogue. Keratin treatment, smoothing, ironing, Beach-waves, perming, blow dry and it goes on and on ( I remember, during the wedding days of my bezzie.. I was getting hairdo and styling done every day, which resulted in excess of hair shedding the last day… I literally went crazy!!)

Also an excess of coloring and chemicals leads to hair loss. (because we hardly maintain the colored hair..!) Also, an excess of brushing and touching hair is not a good habit.

  1. MEDICAL TREATMENT

Cancer treatment also results in hair shedding. In the chemotherapy, a patient is on medication. where certain drugs consumed by the victim, will not kill cancer cells but will adversely affect the hair cells. This might also result in baldness.

(One of my aunts, she suffered a lot of hair shedding during her chemotherapy.. I just can’t explain in words what was she going through!) Doctors strictly recommended her healthy & balanced diet!!

Also, pregnancy leads to hair fall!

There are in-numerous reasons for hair fall. Not covering your hair from the harsh sunlight, change of hormones and scalp age are also equally responsible.

Trust me, it’s normal to find hair strands on your hair brush and shower stopple. (The early morning, when I woke up that day.. I founda bunch of strands on my pillow and it becomes vexatious. I almost went in depression, was biting my nails and series of assumptions was spinning in my head) Then, my doctor explained to me. That it’s a natural hair growth phenomenon.

(Like one of my friend.. she was super excited for her first date.. looking hot. dressed stunningly and rolling your finger through the hair, it works out like a charm as always! Alas.. it embarrassed her so badly because her hair got tangled up with the dead hair… oh noo.. and it humiliated her so badly!!)

So to avoid such situations in life. Girls, take care of your hair. Having a balanced diet always will anyways cure your maximum issues. A healthy diet may not show immediate results on your hair.. but slowly and gradually they will make your hair internally strong. Exercising and yoga are also good for health.

Styling is in. But, styling naturally, is an individual call. Put hairbands, bows and pins look trendy. Use natural serums or hair sprays.

So if you’re going out on a Saturday date, and need your hair straightened with a  bouncy type look…. ohhhh.. don’t worry!! That’s completely fine. Get an occasional temporary treat.. but not a permanent one!!
